4948178 300x300 - Why is Earth Hour Important?Earth Hour 2021 takes place tonight, March 27th at 8:30 pm.

Millions of people around the world will show solidarity by taking place in the symbolic hour of darkness.

Iconic landmarks on every continent will take part including the Empire State Building, Eiffel Tower, Colosseum, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and the Sydney Opera House.  They will each go dark for one hour at 8:30 pm local time.

Earth Hour is not a plan to reduce carbon emissions or energy use but a symbolic action to encourage awareness.  It is about recognizing your ecological footprint and starting to think about how to mange it sustainably.

Take the time to do something different.

Earth Hour was started in 2007 by the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) and it has become one the world’s biggest movements for the environment with participants in over 180 countries.

The unified act of turning off the lights for one hour tonight is especially impactful when people share the experience on social media.  Let your friends know how you participate in Earth Hour 2021 by using hashtags #EarthHour!
